Universal Peace
Introduction
Universal Peace. For the first time in history, humans have an important perspective⎯ they now understand to a successful extent the planet earth, its biodiversity, and ecosystems. This started even before cosmonauts and astronauts captured images of the earth during their space flights and transmitted to earth [1], giving people a first-time rounded view of the planet from outer space that sparked human imagination. Feedback included an awareness of the need to sustain such a beautiful planet.
Leadership
Earth, then seen in wonder as a complete physical entity, brought forth questions of how this planet, representative-of-one, single habitat for humankind as we know it, translates into ideas on how to heal a conflicted humanity. Resolving this problem and establishing unity is crucial for attaining world peace. Exceptional leadership has a crucial role in this process, to convey the principle of oneness as a reality to the human family; proven, as the planet earth, to be an entity of one. Though diverse in its peoples, culture, and societal constructs, through unified effort, for humanity to achieve world peace is not only possible but inevitable.
Pronouncements
The peace that humanity has longed for throughout the centuries finds an expectation that now appears on the horizon. War and conflicts still rage in various regions of the world, and a sore-tired people, having suffered for eons the ravages of war, are now awakening and incline their hearts towards the pronouncements of world peace made down through the ages by countless generations of seers, poets, prophets, and visionaries, along with that inscribed in the sacred scriptures, holding forth the promise of world peace, a peace now possible, and within the reach of nations to grasp. This, an extraordinary evolutionary next stage in the progressive development of society, also denotes a new phase in the human condition, a transitional state in humanity’s long-awaited maturity, culminate to advance a civilizing world, and issue-forth the process of universal peace.
Conditions
The conditions for acquiring universal peace are spiritual, and draw on principles found in sacred scriptures. It also relates to an important pivotal aspect - the oneness of the human family, which acts as a unifying axis in guiding the processes for achieving universal peace. Peace is also dependant upon certain preconditions in this transitioning age⎯ enlightened leaders who will encourage understanding and seek cooperation among the world’s people to employ ways that secure the well-being of society; acknowledge the need for proportionate use of power, that includes the political arena, economic systems, military establishments, and civil society to create, promote, and sustain enduring solutions for an equitable and lasting unity; emphases the role and responsibility of religious institutions to transcend historical self-interest, their leadership is crucial to help build foundational requirements for peace based on principles spiritual ideals that will help humanity become a unified entity.
Dialogue
Regarding the above, the goal of dialogue and consultation in this process is important to gain into ways to gain unified response among various parties - leaders, scholars, diplomats, government officials, civil society representatives, and religious leaders - that they must emphasize the innate nobility of humankind, cultivate its spiritual potential, raise conscious awareness, and exemplify ways to interact with the natural environment. This will help promote peace and security in society.
Pivotal Point
As previously stated, the first among those principles with which peace is associated, is the important pivotal - oneness of the human family, viewed as a unifying axis; pursue harmony between religion and science; promote equality among men and women; make an independent search for truth; establish compulsory education; and create economic measures to eliminate the extremes of wealth and poverty. These principles are practical and of immediate concern. Not mere statements of vague aspiration, they are precursors that confirm justice remains as the supreme requirement in human affairs, without which world peace will remain a visionary’s ideal.

[1] Silent Spring. Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring was first published in three serialized excerpts in the New Yorker in June of 1962. Its publication forced the banning of DDT [*] and spurred revolutionary changes in the laws affecting our air, land, and water. Carson’s passionate concern for the future of our planet reverberated powerfully throughout the world, and her eloquent book was instrumental in launching the environmental movement. It is without question one of the landmark books of the twentieth century.
[*] In the 1940s, researchers created DDT (dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane) as the first of the modern synthetic insecticides. It effectively combated malaria, typhus, and other insect-borne human diseases among both military and civilian populations. It also was effective for insect control in crop and livestock production, institutions, homes, and gardens. DDT’s quick success as a pesticide and broad use in the United States and other countries led to developing resistance by a host of insect pest species.
