The mass of diverse humanity struggles for recognition and understanding, to receive respect and, above all, be treated in a just and humane manner. The ‘voice of a diverse-unheard’ is increasing to such a magnitude that it can influence the human condition in a global context. Its intensity is providing challenging but infinite opportunities for the growth and development of human character in ways that can strengthen the creative capacity of all segments of society. 


Our purpose in exploring the human dynamic in a global environment is to reveal and give credence to human diversity, creativity, and potential problem-solving capability.   Long misunderstood and therefore under-estimated, the human dynamic has yet to show its full potential.


People are in denial of the spiritual core of human existence—the force that defines the species, reveals its consciousness and awareness, empowers creativity, provides the moral fiber that animates thought, is a baseline for elevating human character in line with the totality of humanity, and provides problem-solving capability.


Prejudice expresses a specific dislike coupled with generalized timidity and feelings of awkwardness in coping with unfamiliar situations, and unknown people and their culture, social and religious practices.

For rational humans, the way to change attitudes is by disseminating facts. But repeated attempts seem to have only a minor effect, proving we are not as rational as we think we are.  Information alone when it differs from pre-existing indoctrination, prejudice, and/or long-held points of view seldom if ever causes a change in attitude, being likely rejected as one-sided or propagandist.

Education, gender, class, generational consideration, and socio-economic circumstances play a role in social cohesion or lack thereof. Genuine contact between members of different ethnic groups can be more effective, though with limitations based on the aforementioned.  These factors deserve attention.  But programs that exaggerate their importance, or see things only in sociological terms, have achieved limited results.

While social distinctions are unavoidable indicators within human diversity, it is a monumental mistake to believe that because people who are less well educated, of lower > >

> > economic status, or in other ways live unconventional lifestyles, that they are lacking in either intelligence or innate sensibility. Discrimination against anyone on whatever grounds whether social, racial, cultural, ethnic, gender, or religious is perverse and violates human dignity.  Prejudice and pretentiousness are failures to recognize not only humanity’s oneness but also those innate qualities that define the species. We should not remain blind to the distinctiveness and sensitivities of people who come from unique backgrounds. Education is essential for increasing knowledge and understanding of the vast diversity of humanity.  But it must be more than the ingestion of facts. We must place

emphasis on the oneness of humanity, its innate core that expresses moral and spiritual values.  When promoted, they provide a proper understanding of the qualities inherent to human diversity and the means to cultivate qualities of respect, courtesy, and dignity.  Elevated to this level of expression, humanity is better able to diminish confrontation, engage in social and economic abuse, and other negative aspects associated with maintaining an adversarial approach that agitates the human condition.


People, societies, and organizations are in a constant state of flux because of rising global pressures. For the first time some see the need for a global ethic:

As a first step toward recognizing and cultivating a global consciousness, [we are encouraged] to embark on [the process of] experiencing the earth as an interrelated, organic whole ‘a single globe of remarkable beauty and unity.’ This…requires… us [to] attempt to experience and understand both cultures and religions from a global perspective, and to see our history as global history. Thus, the movement toward formulating a global ethic represents [an important and necessary] stage in the evolution of human culture, [and] as it moves toward a global society [it will be characterized] by a [newly acquired] complex and [multifaceted] global consciousness.


Developing a human character for a global transition is now primary. It will require ‘biting the bullet’, so to speak, something that humankind has fought against far too long. Humanity’s resistance to change and a stoic desire to maintain the status quo has resulted in ever-increasing dire circumstances for the species. It is now feeling pressure to reconsider its position, to comprehend the benefits derived from developing those innate characteristics within its diversity that when used will help achieve social stability and assist in bringing about progressive futures; a spiritual process.  Some see this as utopian idealism, but others can perceive the benefit of devising spiritual solutions to social and economic problems.  Focusing only on material means to rectify economic and social ills, does not, has not, and cannot eliminate the plight now experienced by the masses of humanity. It requires an unconventional approach.

The conscious expansion of the bounds of empathy and justice into reality will require a tremendous strengthening of the “spirit of global solidarity”. Crucial in this regard will be ensuring that recognition of the interconnected nature of humanity is a principal consideration in planning cohesive global public policy. That which drives concerted collective action is inspired by self-leadership.
