Strategic Planning-Long Term

Point-of-View

Our view is that large corporations, now dependent on free market principles for their survival, are limited in scope. Marginalized peoples, victims of past colonial and imperialist systems, which have now changed but still serve the same purpose.

Worldwide, marginalized peoples strive for Ubuntu-inspired harmony in their daily lives, including in their professional pursuits. Materialist corporations, driven by the profit motive, are or will be pressured to respond in positive ways to improve economic and social conditions. Their collusion with governments must also take a different direction. However, if there is little or no change, people will continue to struggle to find alternative ways to ensure their survival.

A new trend is emerging in this area. Future prosperity will mainly depend on the global population actively participating in its survival. This will require harnessing all available human resources, especially the creativity inherent to human diversity, to spark the innovative processes needed to make it happen.

When we analyze the patterns in how civilizations develop, their durations, and the achievements leading to greater accomplishments, it becomes clear that each civilization follows the previous one in terms of knowledge and a higher quality of life. We use this timeline to theoretically project a current series of successive timelines for trends in human achievement based on the above analysis.

Our premise—that the current corporate-capitalist system is reaching its practical and ethical limits, and that a new framework based on communal well-being (Ubuntu) and embracing human diversity is emerging—gives us a valuable perspective for analyzing history and envisioning a future timeline.

Analysis of Civilizational Development Trends

The historical pattern of civilizations shows a clear, though non-linear, progression toward greater complexity, integration of knowledge, and (eventually) higher standards of living for larger portions of the population. The key mechanism is what we describe as "Successive Synthesis." Each dominant civilization collapses, but its core technological and philosophical achievements are absorbed and built upon by its successors.

The following timeline illustrates the duration and primary focus of major civilizational epochs leading to the present:

Timeline: Successive Synthesis of Civilizations

Section: Agrarian Revolution
~10,000 BCE: Surplus & Hierarchy. Stability through central power.

Section: Axial Age (c. 800-200 BCE)
~500 BCE: Ethical Frameworks. Philosophy & spiritual systems emerge.

Section: Industrial Revolution
~1760 CE: Mass Production. Energy harnessed for material output.

Section: Information Age (Present)
~1940 CE: Global Connectivity. Digital networks & knowledge economy.

Section: Ubuntu-Integration Age (Projected)
~2040 CE: Human Flourishing. Purpose-driven models leveraging diversity.

Detailed analysis of each epoch is shown in the timeline

1. The Agrarian Revolution (c. 10,000 BCE): Duration: ~9,800 years.

* Trend: Domestication of plants/animals → surplus food → settled societies → social stratification, hierarchy, and empires.

* Outcome/Accomplishment: The foundation of civilization itself: writing, law codes, monumental architecture, and specialized labor. Elites hoarded knowledge. The standard of living was low for the majority.

2. The Axial Age (c. 800-200 BCE): Duration: ~600 years of intense philosophical development, with effects lasting 2,000+ years.

* Outcome/Accomplishment: The birth of universalizing philosophies and religions (Confucianism, Buddhism, Greek Philosophy, Monotheism). This was a crucial step in expanding the circle of moral concern beyond one's immediate tribe, laying the groundwork for larger, more stable societies.

3. The Industrial Revolution (c. 1760 CE): Duration: ~200 years to global dominance.

* Trend: Harnessing of fossil fuels → mechanization → mass production → urbanization → capitalism and socialism as competing organizational models.

* Outcome/Accomplishment: An unprecedented explosion in material wealth, scientific understanding, and technological power. Global connectivity was forged, albeit through colonialism. The "successor" knowledge here was the scientific method, which became the dominant tool for understanding the world. However, it often came with a materialist, reductionist, and exploitative mindset.

4. The Information Age (c. 1940-Present): Duration: ~80 years and maturing.

* Trend: Digital technology → instant global communication and information access → the network as the dominant organizational form.

* Outcome/Accomplishment: The knowledge of all previous civilizations is now accessible to billions. This has democratized innovation and created a global consciousness. However, it has also exacerbated inequality, created new surveillance capacities, and is currently trapped within the profit-maximizing logic of the Industrial Age corporation.

Critical Observation: The duration of each dominant "age" is shortening (10,000 years → 2,000 years → 200 years → ~80 years). This suggests an accelerating pace of cultural and societal (civilizational) change. The transition point arises when the externalities of the old model (e.g., inequality, resource depletion, social alienation) become too great to bear, and new tools emerge to create a better alternative.

Based on our analysis and the historical pattern of "Successive Synthesis," we can project a future timeline in which the emerging values of ‘Ubuntu’, diversity, and holistic well-being converge with the technological capabilities of the Information Age. Based on our analysis of these civilizational trends, we made a ‘Theoretical Projection of Future Timelines of Human Accomplishment’.

This timeline projects a series of future phases, successively driven by the synthesis of technological capability and the Ubuntu-inspired ethos previously described:

Projected Future Timeline of Human Accomplishment

Section - Phase 1: The Awakening & Pressure (Next 10-15 years).

Present - 2040: Cracks in the System. Ubuntu-inspired models gain visibility as
alternatives to failing systems.

Section - Phase 2: The Great Synthesis (c. 2040 - 2070).

2040 - 2070: Purpose-driven Economies. New legal & economic structures prioritize human & ecological well-being.

Section - Phase 3: The Fluidity Era (c. 2070 - 2100).

2070 - 2100: Leveraging Full Potential. Diversity as the primary engine for solving complex civilizational challenges.

Section - Phase 4: Cosmic Maturity (Post-2100).

Beyond 2100: A New Civilizational Model. Humanity operates as a unified but diverse organism, exploring its purpose.

This is a detailed explanation of each projected phase. It corresponds to the time intervals outlined in our World Order proposal.

Phase 1: The Awakening & Pressure (Next 10-15 years).

* Trend: The limitations of the current social/economic/business model become undeniable: extreme inequality, ecological crises, and widespread psychological alienation. Movements inspired by ‘Ubuntu’, ‘Buen Vivir’, and other indigenous paradigms gain traction not as nostalgia, but as practical frameworks for solving problems. Corporations face intense pressure from consumers, employees, and investors to adopt stakeholder-oriented models.

+South Africa's Ubuntu is a humanist philosophy that emphasizes interconnectedness, community, and the collective well-being of society. Often translated as "I am because we are," it signifies that a person's humanity is realized through their relationships and interactions with others. Ubuntu embodies values such as compassion, empathy, and kindness, recognizing a universal bond that connects all people and fosters a spirit of shared responsibility and human dignity.

+Buen Vivir, which translates to "living well," is a South American idea rooted in Indigenous traditions that criticizes Western development models and highlights a lifestyle of balance and harmony within communities and with nature, rather than focusing on individual material wealth.

* Key Accomplishments: The development of ‘new metrics for success’ beyond GDP and shareholder profit (e.g., Genuine Progress Indicator, Gross National Happiness). The proliferation of alternative business structures (B-Corps, cooperatives, steward-owned companies). The formal incorporation of traditional ecological knowledge into scientific research.

Phase 2: The Great Synthesis (c. 2040 - 2070).

* Trend: The emergent values-based models begin to synthesize with the robust technological infrastructure of the Information Age. AI and blockchain are repurposed from maximizing profit to optimizing for community well-being and regenerative ecology. The "collusion with governments" shifts from protecting incumbent industries to fostering resilient local and global commons.

* Key Accomplishments: Decentralized regenerative economies become the norm in many regions. AI-powered systems manage resource allocation for optimal sustainability and human flourishing. Education is radically transformed to cultivate empathy, creativity, and collaboration—the skills needed for this new society. The standard of living is redefined to emphasize quality of life, purpose, and community connection.

Phase 3: The Fluidity Era (c. 2070 - 2100).

* Trend: With basic material and security needs met for the global population, and with systems designed to leverage diversity rather than suppress it, human creativity explodes. "Human resources" are fully utilized as individuals are empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and skills.

* Key Accomplishments: The boundaries between disciplines blur, leading to a new renaissance in art, science, and spirituality. Biomimicry and indigenous knowledge become central to technological development, leading to truly sustainable and symbiotic human systems. The primary work of humanity becomes stewardship of the planet and addressing grand challenges.

Phase 4: Cosmic Maturity (Post-2100).

* Trend: Having achieved a stable, prosperous, and dynamic planetary civilization, humanity is poised for its next significant step. The principle of "active involvement" evolves from ensuring survival to exploring humanity's purpose on a cosmic scale.

* Key Accomplishments: The culmination of this trend is a civilization that has internalized the wisdom of Ubuntu—"I am because we are"—at a species level. This unity-in-diversity becomes the foundation for any future exploration, whether interstellar or introspective, ensuring it is conducted with wisdom, responsibility, and a profound sense of interconnectedness.

This projection aligns with our World Order proposal and its vision for humanity's future. Humanity’s achievement does not come from abandoning past knowledge, but from blending it with wisdom and traditions in ways that promote collective well-being. The push for change is growing, and this new synthesis is rapidly becoming a reality.
